They did what they wanted to do. Not every mystery needs to be solved.Yeah but when that mystery is supposed to be addressed at some point in BL3 or at least hinted at then guess what? It should be. It's not the END of the thread that OPENED at the end of the game, and BL3, as it's been established, built upon the Tales From game for its story, where that should be addressed and matter. You don't seem to understand that a work existing in a series NEEDS TO FIT in a series, and if somewhere at any point in the series something contradicts it, it can even RETRO ACTIVELY 'ruin' the 'ending' you're talking about. It's the most basic shit about stories, the fact you're waving around 'uhhh I have degrees guys, I swear I'm smart' and use 2 separate accounts to make the same argument disregarding the problems brought up by Borderlands 3 that can only get fixed if the 'second Tales From game' spends a lot of time fixing it is insulting to those who worked on it.And yeah 'the ending was never the point' OF THE GAME'S STORY, BUT IT IS A STORY POINT IN THE OVERALL SERIES' STORY.
It did have a finished ending and I'm well aware of what the fuck a cliffhanger ending is because I have goddamn degrees in this. The game DID have an ending. The story lines were wrapped up, the characters have grown, and the goals were accomplished. It was a solid ending even. What was in the vault was never the point. It's called a Macguffin and you can google what that is if you do not understand.
Or, I'll just explain; it is an object or goal that instigates or motivates the plot which the characters will fight over, but the audience does not.actually. care about. An example being the briefcase in Pulp Fiction or the Holy Grail from Indiana Jones. It is not an argument.
